Abstract:Cash is now king when it comes to corporate deals, and the private equity and venture capital funds hold the keys to the treasury. One group of investors is on every corporate deal-doer's hit list right now: the big buy-out funds. At a time when the collapse in share prices threatens to knock the bottom out of the M&A market by deterring many industrial buyers from doing any big deal involving stock, the private equity specialists are increasingly finding they have the field to themselves.
