Abstract: | Over the past ten years, we have witnessed a tremendous surge in the number and types of strategic alliances formed between multinational corporations across many industries. This article focuses on three broad types of strategic alliances that global competitors may adopt. All strategic alliances may be thought of as transition mechanisms that propel the partners' strategy forward in a turbulent environment -- or, more important, in an environment that top management perceives as highly uncertain. |
