Abstract:In 1998, consumer goods market had several operational characteristics: in general, a growing stable aries; a reducing gap of consumer goods growth between urban and rural areas; a fast growing consumption in the east and a declined one in the middle area. The analysis and estimate of 1999's consumer goods market is as follows: There are several favorable factors. The investment demand will come to the first factor to pull up the consumer market. The government will give stronger support to the country economic development. The rise of commercial house selling will bring about the consumption growth of relevant products. On the other hand, there are also some unfavorable factors. People have kept an increasingly prudent sense of consumption due to the various reform policies coming into effect. Consumers take a wait-an-see attitude towards the price war, holding their money tightly in hand. The income that could be budgeted and the purchase desire don't match each other, and which cut down the consumption level.
