Abstract: | Three creative techniques are described which have a proven record of promoting, relating and building upon ideas. Brainstorming and lateral thinking are well-known. Force-field analysis deserves to be better understood. The mapping technique is introduced as a method of increasing the usefulness of the creative technique. It enables the personal theories, ideas of the participants to be graphically represented as cause and consequence relationships. The mapping technique is relevant for individual and group implementation alike. The creative skills, which are useful in problem-solving, need to bear a close relationship to people's own thought processes. Case records are given as examples of use in context. |
