Abstract:Many executives and consultants are expressing dissatisfaction with the outcomes of planned-change efforts in complex organizations. Consultants claim that executives refuse to provide the time, data, or financial and human resources needed. Executives claim that consultants do not understand complex business issues and do not produce agreed-upon outcomes. A new diagnostic tool is presented which can help both parties to introduce changes successfully. The tool assesses client organization characteristics, the fit between the consulting team and the client organization, the fit between the client organization and the stakeholders in the environment.
