Abstract: | The results and conclusions of a nationwide representative household energy survey carried out in Jordan are presented. The analysis of the useful energy consumption shows a high share of hot-water consumption. Kerosene is used extensively in most of the households and represents 34 p.c. of the final energy used. The electricity consumption in the country is driven by a large stock of electrical appliances. The experience gained with the methodology shows important socioeconomic interactions. The energy policy analysis reveals the need for government intervention to promote solar water-heaters as well as regarding the unsatisfied heating demand. |
