| Abstract: | In today's global competitive environment it is flexibility, responsiveness, and low-cost/low-volume manufacturing skills that will determine the sustainability of competitive advantage. Three distinct features of fast-response, global manufacturing are: computer-integrated manufacturing, strategic alliances and networks with suppliers around the world, and transforming manufacturing as a service. As even the most modern technologies become available to anyone, technology itself will no longer be the only key to success. Now, time is the only real resource that all firms have; all that matters is how one uses it. |
