Abstract:In the first twenty years of its existence ADB (Asian Development Bank) concentrated its activities on project loans, mainly in the agriculture. With the emergence of large commodity surplus of rice, rubber etc., the bank has to switch its strategy to program lending and industrialization. According to the Japanese president of the bank, accelerated industrialization must be the solution for semi-industrialized countries like Thailand, Phillipines, Malaysia and Indonesia.
