Abstract:The empirical evidence presented indicates that culture style and the characteristic of strategic planning process are correlated. In turn, this suggests that culture and content of strategy are dependent on each other. This finding is in line with the conceptual arguments put forward and the findings of the limited number of other empirical studies. The study clearly showed that different culture styles correlated with different strategic directions. The pattern of correlation underscores the alignment argument. Interestingly, the strength of culture influenced the degree of emphasis placed on the characteristics of strategic planning process. From this it is possible tentatively to conclude that weak cultures, independent of the particular culture style, are less conducive to strategic management.
