Abstract: | The article examines Hofstedes model, which has been widely applied in international management. The author begins with criticism of Hofstedes thesis and then considers the aptitude of his framework using a cross-cultural comparison of rewards preferences in four different countries. The results indicate that Hofstedes proposition that human values are determined only by national culture ignores the fact that also a variety of other contextual factors can affect these values. Granted, that Hofstedes model offers many theoretical as well as practical contributions. |
