Abstract:This article explores sub-segments participating in heritage tourism by attending in historical event re-enactments. Based on a sample of tourists who attended the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark expedition to the Pacific coast and back, the role of re-enactment in heritage tourism is investigated. Findings on perceptions of nostalgia and authenticity together with preliminary managerial benefits and suggestions for host communities are presented.
