| Abstract: | The new right-wing Government of Edouard Balladur has announced the main features of its programme. In the field of employment, it is, unsurprisingly, unemployment and the financially stricken social security funds which will receive priority. However, perhaps the main point of interest is the extensive process of consulting the "social partners" which has been launched to precede the announcement of potentially painful concrete measures. A number of conferences bringing together unions, employers and the Government have been called. |
