| Abstract: | In financial calculations the basic formular which is commonly used does not contain all appropriate magnitudes. It is shown that in this formular the number 1 has to be added to a celocity (specifiedf as, for example 0.12/year) and that this formular contains, implicit, in the exponent a unit of measurement (years). Nevertheless in all previous work this formular is so applied. In practice the incorrectness of the formula creates problems. Recently in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung a judgement by the German "Bundesgerichtshof" is discussed. The judgement concerns the corrent interpretation of a lending agreement. This judgement specifically is concerned with this formula problem. It is the inaccurate use of magnitudes in lending agreements. On the basis of this observation an improved basic formula is presented. |
