| Abstract: | Continued from the sliding inertia of growth rates of market prices, which were falling after a rise continuously last year, the general price level has presented a downward trend more obviously since the beginning of 1998 and price index is continuing to go downwards at low level. By June, the country's resident consumer prices and retail prices were down 1.3 percent and 3 percent over the same period of last year. These two kinds of prices accumulated in the first half of the year were down 0.3 percent and 2.1 percent respectively over the same period of last year. It is estimated that the general level of retail prices will still keep a downward trend in the second half of 1998. |
