| Abstract: | Steward Inc., an international manufacturer of electromagnetic interference suppressions components supplied to a division of General Motors , was forecasting a tremendous increase in the demand for ferrite filters. The rapid increase in the requirements was being hindered by the capacity limitations. Industrial engineers recommended Steward change to a cellular manufacturing layout. Both advantages and disadvantages of the process layout changes are outlined in this article. |
