| Abstract: | The Toyota production systems is often held up as a model of the highly successful Japanese manufacturing environment. But not all elements of the Toyota production system are readily achievable. Features such as lifetime employment, company unions, government assistance and cheap debt financing may be difficult or impossible to duplicate here. There are however, eleven features of JIT production that do lend themselves to universal application, may of which differ significantly from traditional methods. |
