| Abstract: | Quality, still critical to success, is no longer a source of unique competitive advantage. Instead, attention is shifting to speed and time-based competition (TBC). While the need for TBC is well-known, many of the strategies and tactics needed for the successful reduction and control of time are not. This article closes this gap between goals and tactics. By drawing on the results of a recent field study involving firms located throughout North America who have implemented TBC systems , the authors identify and discuss 7 basic strategies for reducing time. |
