Abstract:The traditional forms of motivation seem to be outdated today. Money, punishment and praise do not necessarily lead to better performance. This is the result of saturated markets which make the increase of sales very hard. Senior managers must find out new ways of inducing their employees to better work. The practice of several renowned firms /Procter & Gamble, Hypobank, L' Oreal/ is investigated. It is found that motivation based only on money is not only counter productive, but has other negative impacts too. The solutions of this problem lie in promoting a new partnership with the employees and in team spirit.
