Abstract:Governments of the Gulf countries have been addressing fiscal imbalances in order to meet the challenges of globalisation. The NCB's Henry Azzam says it is important now for policy makers to keep up the momentum on reform. The Gulf countries have made significant progress in the past few years towards reducing internal and external financial imbalances and broadening structural reforms. This progress, combined with the tradition of low inflation, stable currencies, liberal trade systems places the Gulf Cooperation Council (CCC) countries in a strong position to meet the medium-term challenges of globalisation.
