Abstract: | Returns from investments in information technology seem currently not to match company expectations. These paradoxes are caused by deficiencies in effectiveness and efficiency. The authors first develop a typology of possible obstacles in e-business, which are responsible for the occurrence of such paradoxes. The postulated relationships between the identified deficiencies and the effectiveness and efficiency paradoxes are empirically tested by a structural equation model. Based on the re sults, some implications are presented to overcome these obstacles. The paper provides a substantial list of references on this subject. |
