Abstract:The paper explores the touring in relation to encounters or interactions between tourists in the Australian Outback. Specifically, the study concentrates on the issue, how social life is achieved, established and maintained. The study was made by interviewing independent tourists in the remote regions of Outback Australia. The researchers themselves were travelling in the outback and living in campgrounds and caravan parks while conducting the research. The findings reveal that tourist appreciate each other’s company. Tourist can not avoid interaction with other tourists. Interactions between tourists enriched their understanding of this ambivalently perceived cultural and physical environment, offering comfort and companionship.
