Abstract: | In many companies, the human resources group has been forced to play a large and principally unwarranted role in designing and monitoring the performance management system. It is often handed over to the HR department because it deals with human assets, focuses on appraisal, and determines compensation. These are silly reasons, because to be effective every manager should be grappling with people- related issues daily. But the result is that performance management and appraisal are often seen as an HR system. This is unfair to everyone, especially the HR group. |
