Abstract:It is anticipated that stringent environmental standards and regulations will play important roles in Taiwan and may provoke industry to adopt necessary structural changes which will have impact on energy policy-making and the oil-structure of Taiwan, in order to cope with growing concerns of environmental impacts form energy activities. Results of the study indicate that iron and steel, textiles, paper products and plastic products sectors are high in forward and backward effects. These industries continue to play important roles in Taiwan's industry and economic development. Sectors such as public services and the commercial sectors are worthy of expansion because they categorized as low energy demand and low pollution, and having high rankings in overall inter-industry relationships .
