Abstract:The sherry and sherry-style drinks market amounted to 6.60m cases in 1993, 40% below the record 1979 level of 11.05m cases. British sherry overtook sherry to become the biggest volume drink in the category in 1991. Its volume share increased from 30.8% in 1979 to 48.5% by 1993, with actual volume down by just 6%, making it the best performer among the major types. Harveys is the leading brand range in the sherry market, followed by Croft and Gonzalez Byass.
