Abstract:In a newly liberalised market, Electrabel, the privately owned leading electricity producer in Belgium, seeks competitive advantages, one of which is certification to environmental management systems (EMS). Having established and used environmental procedures for several years, essentially for environmental impact assessment (EIA) reasons, and now facing greater environmental challenges as regulatory and public pressures increase, the company believes the implementation of EMSs to be an efficient tool for better environmental performance and communication.
