Abstract: | This article examines the environmental and economic implications of various future diets combining life-cycle assessment methods with an input-output model. In the model patterns of production and trade can be identified and physical inputs such as land, water and energy can be quantified. The method takes into account also the costs and prices associated with different assumptions about diets, production techniques, and policies. An environmentally preferred diet and a healthy diet are discussed. |
