Abstract:As the economy slowly emerges from recession, smaller businesses are going for growth. The overdraft is still the main source of working capital for businesses, but is it the best? The article argues that a company can often finance a higher proportion of its working capital requirements through factoring than with a bank loan. The importance of reducing dependence on overdraft is stressed. Businesses looking for extra capital to finance growth should look to the basics. The business plan is fundamental to the commercial environment.
