Abstract: | Exosat launched in 1983 operated for almost 3 years. During this time, Exosat observed the remnants of exploded stars. These studies allow astronomers to examine the operation of scientific laws and theorems under physical conditions that are not reproducible on Earth. To proceed further, higher spatial and spectral resolution and greater sensitivity are required. ESA's High-Throughput Astrophysics Mission, XMM will meet these requirements. |
