Abstract:Fraud is always unsavoury. It might appear to be a cosy white-collar crime without violence, but anguish and hardship are often left in its wake. And charity frauds are perhaps the most unpalatable frauds of all. Every fraud involves abuse of trust, but defrauding a charity also means undermining the public's generosity. Charities have not been immune from the general increase in fraud. But commonsense precautions, and the implementation of new regulations which are on the way, should help foil the fraudsters.
