Abstract: | The book is in four parts. Jackson's stated purpose in producing the book is to "reconstitute systems thinking as a unified approach to problem management, so that it can again occupy a role at the leading edge of management science." It argues that the diversity of the systems methodologies covered representsa strength rather than a weakness, and that a critical appreciation of their theoretical presuppositions can be used to ensure "that each systems approach is put to word only in problem situations for which its theoretical rationality is appropriate". |
