| Abstract: | First there was South America. Then Southeast Asia. And now Eastern Europe, including the Baltic republics, has become the latest of the hot, emerging markets for investors hoping to get big returns for gambling on high risk economies. Many banks and private companies in the former Soviet Union are starved for capital and Western investors are only too happy to provide it, figuring they'll reap good profits. The Baltic Cash Fund is expected to raise at least 40 million US dollars from institutional and wealthy private investors. |
