Abstract: | Taiwan takes the offensive on China trade. Taiwan entrepreneurs hope Lien and Lee will strengthen economic ties with China. The waters dividing Taiwan and China remain choppy. Entrepreneurs not only on the island and mainland but also in Hong Kong and beyond are among those holding their breath. Taiwan-China ties are today as much about high-stakes business as they are about decades-old ideological arguments. "All problems can't be resolved by relying on one inaugural speech", says Kao Koong-lian, vice chairman of Taiwan's cabinet-level Mainland Affairs Council (MAC). |
