Abstract:Identification mechanisms continue to be evident in companies along with pervasive human drive to identify with the social system of which we are a part. Differentiating the levels of identification which occur in organizations promotes better understanding of identification issues in the contemporary workforce. Situated identification offers potential for more effectively organizing new forms of work by signalling a collective sense of common interest across workers with different employee status. Deep structure identification is characteristic of high involvement work systems, and for workers of full-time, permanent, or core roles who access a broader array of organizational revards.
