Abstract:The extensive downsizing and delayering campaigns of the past decade have created a great loss of corporate memory. In this loss, included are specific knowledge and the vital informal networks and business relationships. Companies that continue to lose memory will also lose competitive edge. Knowledge management is a cure for this acute condition. It is not only about leveraging knowledge that is inside the organization, but also about being constantly awake, to spot new knowledge opprotunities.
