Abstract:This set of two articles deals with Internet, technology and banking. K. Young's article reports on the Smart Card 2000 conference held in London. There were attempts to broaden the appeal of interactive television. C. Proctor's article deals with the Internet banking taking off, but what about the customers ? Proctor's article looks at how new tech is being developed to ensure humans still can be useful somewhere, like e.g. at call centres for customer support.
