Abstract: | This paper considers the problem of business-to-business exchanges. If b2b exchanges achieve their potential, every link in the supply chain would feel the resulting data. The problem: how does a consortium of vendors convince its suppliers that b2b exchanges are anything other than an attempt to squeeze their margins. And how does a b2b exchange convince potential supplier participants that their products are competing on other than price? Transora, a giant exchange launched by 54 packaged-goods makers, hopes to streamline every part of the supply chain, from purchasing raw materials to logistics, financing, and insurance. |
