Abstract:Thousands of industrial facilities around the European Union (EU) area have been granted allowances for carbon dioxide emissions, which are the most familiar emissions causing the greenhouse effect. The “carbon exposure” is not only an environmental compliance anymore, but it is an important strategic factor in the business field of Europe. The writers consider the different viewpoints of firms concerning carbon dioxide emissions. They also discuss the effects of global warming on the decision making of companies, and assess the risks that companies face. The writers conclude that firms must take a strategic approach to planning the issue of carbon dioxide emissions as they are doing with planning the human resources and capital of the firm.
