| Abstract: | The standard economic production quantity (EPQ) model assumes that items are produced by a perfectly reliable production process with a fixed set-up cost. While the reliability of the production process cannot be perfect without knowing the price of the product , its set-up cost can be diminished with increasing its flexibility. This problem is formalized in an EPQ-framework. The resulting inventory optimization problem is formulated as a geometric program and solved in closed form. |
