| Abstract: | Recent trends in management theory indicate that the main focus of attention for top corporate management has shifted from the field of strategic planning to strategic management. In this context much greater significance is now attributed to corporate philosophy and culture. The author examines this development paying particular attention to its theoretical basis. On this basis he has developed a concept of strategic management which is set against other European concepts in order to gain an overview of current trends. The author outlines some concepts of strategic corporate management found in USA literature. He concludes by evaluating the concepts he has selected from the USA literature and comparing them with his own. |
