| Abstract: | The author analyses the hypothesis that minimum reserve requirements harm international competitiveness of the German financial system and reduces the effectivity of German monetary policy. The measure would dampen disturbances from abroad but at the same time would abate the effectiveness of the central bank and is therefore not to be recommended. |
