Abstract: | High levels of turnover is one of the primary challenges in the hospitality industry. This study examines turnover intentions of the most critical groups of employees, that is, management (here as: mgrs.) staff. Based on a sample of Cornell University School of Hotel Administration graduates 1987-2002, identified are job features enhancing mgrs.' commitment levels to their organizations and to the overall industry, as well as reducing their likelihood of leaving both. It is found that hospitality mgrs. take charge of their careers. Mgrs.' commitment to performing challenging work especially reduces their likelihood of leaving. |
