Abstract:This article deals with the attitudes of United States (U.S.) business professionals on the issue of international (here as: int-al.) bribery (as: b-ry). It is especially explored whether or not having a written code of ethics (as: c-of-eth.) has an effect on these attitudes. Attitudes concerning whether or not int-al. bribery is ever acceptable showed to be wide dispersed. Respondents from firms having a written c-of-eth. were significantly less likely to find int-al. b-ry. acceptable. Firms generating revenues from int-al. operations were significantly more likely to have a written c-of-eth. than were firms which did not generate revenues from int-al. operations.
