| Abstract: | Close to 20 bn dollars in foreign investment has flowed into Central and eastern Europe since 1989, less than was hoped for. With the region on the verge of economic turnaround, new investment strategies are emerging. Reformers have always regarded foreign direct investment as a vital tool for speeding up the transition process. Strategic investors bring a variety of goodies with them, including technology transfer , management know-how and quick access to export markets. |
