Abstract:Since taking over Skoda Auto four years ago, VW has cowed its suppliers, its labour force and even the Czech government as it tries to boost its bottom line. All the partners are hoping the gains will be worth the pain. After caving in to VW's demand at the Skoda Auto plant, the Czech government, suppliers and workers are hoping the Germans are here to stay. VW has never been shy about exploiting its powerful position to the full, doing whatever it takes to boost its bottom line.
