| Abstract: | Will foreign direct investment turn Central Europe into a passive player in the global economy or spur local companies to become multinationals? The transition process in Central Europe would be unthinkable without foreign direct investment. Multinationals have privatised and restructured state dinosaurs, they've boosted export performance and brought badly needed capital, technology and know-how to the region. That much most people agree on. But take a step back and look at the broader phenomenon of globalization. |
