| Abstract: | Slovakia's MBO privatisation programme is rightly criticised for being politically driven and grossly unfair. But a look at two of the companies involved in the scheme suggests it should work. "How do you privatise an economy with no money?" asks a senior Western banker in Bratislava. "If you are the Slovak government, you play monopoly capitalism," he says, "and its primary aim is to shut out the foreigner." |
