Abstract:The Czech government has fallen and the economy is in crisis. But at least the mess is forcing companies like Chemapol and Skoda Plzen towards commercial reality. The country's turnaround depends on how quickly it can sort out its obsolete industrial base. That in turn means sorting out its cronyist financial system. But already there are signs that Chech industry is slowly being forced into reform by the macro-economic chaos. The Chech dream of transition without pain has clobbered the economy.
