Abstract: | There has been many a false down in Russia, but finally the economy seems to be turning the corner. Those Central European companies that have been hanging on, waiting for the resurgence of their former Soviet markets, may breathe a sigh of relief. But they'd be wrong to. Because the signs are that it is not the throw-back companies, with their old products and old links, that are likely to benefit most from any Russian upturn. The real spoils will almost certainly go to reformed companies that have acquired the skills needed to sell on new markets. |
