Abstract: | In recent years publishing houses have been confronted conspicuously with technology driven innovations for the first time. The following article analyses Books-on-Demand, a new technology driven approach, from a technical and an economical perspective. Furthermore, a first identification of strategic implications for publishers is conducted and shows that the new approach increments competitive pressure in the publishing sector. |
