Abstract:The paper states that relationship between a boss and his or her personal assistant is unique in its closeness and interdependence. It's as well then to get it right. If the PA must be loyal, discreet and bring complementary skills, the boss should be clear and respectful -leaving room for the chemistry to work. The paper provides advices ho to manage your p.a. and how to manage your boss. The paper states that Secretaries, and PAs, have a long history. Functionaries and clerks - it was traditionally a male role - have almost always existed in some form, from Ebenezer Scrooge and Bob Cratchit to James Bond and Miss Moneypenny. It wasn't so long ago that to be a government or military secretary in Britain was to be extremely high-powered - hence such titles as Secretary of State and Foreign Secretary.
